The daytime twin of our summer evening walk. In spring, autumn or winter, drive to La Cala de Mijas for around midday, leave the car by the park, and walk east along the Senda Litoral boardwalk in the cooler-month sunshine. You arrive at Max Beach for a 1pm lunch — and if it's a little chilly or windy, their glass-fronted terrace keeps you cosy with the sea still right there. On a sunny day, sit out and soak up some winter rays. Then a gentle walk back along the coast.

Simon's tip
Start the walk around 12 for a 1pm table. Ask for the glass-fronted terrace if the wind's up — sea views without the chill.
